Data Leak Prevention

Data Leak Prevention

Unauthorised spreading of information from within an organization to an external user or place can be termed as data leakage. Many types of data can be illegally transmitted such as intellectual property, classified or sensitive information and other institutional records. A majority of data leak solutions work around three key objectives of finding and organizing classified information stored with the organization, scrutinizing and directing sensitive information across organization networks and on end user systems. These objectives correspond to three primary states of data namely data at rest, data in motion, and data in use. Network traffic can be captured by certain specific network appliances or embedded technology. However, the most difficult aspect of data leak prevention is monitoring of data arising out of end user actions such as sending emails, taking information on a pen drive etc.
