Incident Response

Incident Response

Incident response is a dynamic process although there has been a constant push towards following a standard set of procedures. In incident response most of the stages run analogous of each other though one stage depends on the output of the other stage. A proper methodology should be adopted in incident response which enables documentation of the various processes and stages. This organized approach can help the company in case there are legal interventions where proper adherence to stages would be looked into and enable admissibility in court. An incident response typically consists of a first stage called triage followed by investigation, containment, analysis, tracking and recovery. Triage can be considered as a preliminary investigating stage where priorities are set on how to handle the incident.
