Physical Security

Physical Security

Physical security forms an important part of organisational security systems and includes threats and vulnerabilities concerning people, site design and layout, environmental components, emergency response readiness, training, access control, intrusion detection, and power and fire protection. Physical security includes protection of company assets such as personnel, records, equipment, systems, facilities etc. Earlier, physical security was not much of a concern to companies as technology was not yet advanced with mainframes, consoles and a single server room with limited access. However, today technology has ensured wider access to devices and information with distant and mobile users taking computers and resources outside the company premises. Hence companies feel more taxed than before to protect its assets from damage or theft. In doing so, the importance of real threats cannot be nullified and proper planned systems should be in place in face of such emergencies.
